Foster Falls Camping/Climbing
Published May 24th, 2004 in OutdoorsI took a camping trip to Foster Falls (Near Jasper, TN) this weekend. I went with Heather, Julie Riggs, Montie Schmiege, and Ryan Camp. We just went for Friday night. Julie and Montie climbed there with Stephanie Johns on Friday, and Heather, Ryan, and I arrived around sundown.
After finding camp (sans people), Heather, Ryan, and I decided to head to the base of the falls and perhaps do some swimming. It was quite dark when we got there and the water was cold, so we opted to sit on the rocks along the edge of the pool and talk. It was beautiful. Our conversation turned to our luck at being there, and our generally blessed lives.
After sitting for some time, we returned to camp and finally met up with thother two. We settled in and those who hadn’t, ate. When we all layed down, Ryan suggested that we try to recall songs from the 90’s that we hadn’t heard in a while. That provided a good hour’s worth of distraction. Voices dropped out one by one until only Ryan and I were talking. We had a good time talking about music and swapping stories about high school and friends.
The next day we climbed. I dragged myself up a 5.9 in Teva sandals. I’m a little proud of that climb, despite a couple falls and general sloppiness.
