Confusing Google SERP
Published July 13th, 2004 in MiscellanyI should probably take this to an SEO forum somewhere, but I’m lazy. So, instead I’ll jot this here and leave it as an unanswered question until some kind (and knowledgable) soul finds it.
I have been googling myself for serps. I’ve gotten a recent bump on some terms I care about according to the serps tool at seo-guy.com and I just wanted to take a look the old fashioned way. A search for David Benton (without quotes) saw me at 40. I then searched for “David Benton” (with quotes) expecting to make the top 30 at least. I rarely use my last name without my first and this is a more specific search. Instead of the expected results, I was at 44. What gives?
Now, I know this could be a “google dance” issue that will go away in time. Does anyone know any other possibilities?
