The search term that brings the most vistors to my site is “transvestite”. I see it in my logs so frequently that I didn’t have to look it up to spell it just now. But, you ask, “why does ‘transvestite’ return your site,” and some of you may be asking, “are you a transvestite?” To the latter, no. The former is not as simple.

It starts with my photo gallery. I put 100+ pictures online a bit over a year ago. One of the pictures is of Heather trying to put lipstick on our friend Montie Schmiege. I named the picture schmiege=tranvestite.jpg. For reasons passing understanding, Yahoo’s image search likes this collection of photos. Most of them, including schmiege=transvestite.jpg, are in the first page of results in a relevant search. Go ahead, try it…

I wish that this was not the most popular search term for my site. I even hesitated to write this blog entry because I don’t want to encourage the perverts. However, I have decided that I won’t alter my content for these undesirables. My real readers deserve to read my thoughts, unedited. Instead, I hope to create new content that will become more popular than my white elephant, the transvestite picture.
